In case you didn't hear, last night's State of the Union address contained a brief but important sentence, in which President Obama promised to seek a repeal of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy this calendar year. As this CNN story notes, a number of LGBT rights supporters are praising this long-awaited announcement, and this post from our friends at the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network does a good job of articulating the hopes we have for the policy to be repealed, and for the work that will be required of us to help make the promise a reality.
