Week of Events Nationwide Grows the Atticus Circle

Special thanks to Ingrid Taylor for producing this video.

Stories of friendship and political transformation emerged across the country during Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights, a week of vigils led by straight allies in support of civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans. Through Seven Straight Nights, the power of straight ally voices resonated in thirty-eight cities and towns across the country.

Atticus Circle’s first event on a national scale, Seven Straight Nights events helped straight allies connect with political organizations dedicated to LGBT equality in 26 states. We received an outpouring of support, gaining new members nationwide as allies stepped forward to demonstrate their belief in equality.

We want to commend the 2007 State Leaders and over 30 collaborative partner organizations for the dedication they demonstrated in organizing these actions, and share special thanks with our co-sponsor, Soulforce

On an unprecedented scale, Seven Straight Nights provided a venue for straight allies to take a public stance for LGBT equality, and the success of each of the vigils attests to the continuing need for fair-minded straight people to educate and engage their communities.
